The Moment of Truth?!
Real Life Fellowship in Corpus Christi, Texas has decided to capitalize on the frenzy surrounding Fox's new shock game show "The Moment of Truth". This is the show where contestants are hooked up to a lie detector and ask the types of questions that can potentially ruin lives, reputations and marriages in exchange for money. Here is a link to a video clip from the show where a woman chooses to destroy her marriage FOR MONEY.
Connecting the Church of Jesus Christ with this show for marketing purposes and filling empty seats is simply indefensible.

At least they're timely with this bad idea instead of hitching their wagon to a show that has since become irrelevant or gone off the air. Now if they would just hitch their wagons to the unchanging and always relevant Word of God. And when I say Scripture is relevant, I mean that men are still rebellious sinners at enmity with God in need of justification, and the Bible teaches how we can be made right through the death and resurrection of Christ. That never becomes outdated.

Why would anyone want their church marketed using a show that seems designed to encourage contestants to hurt the people that love them for money? If a church is gonna go this route, they need to keep in mind what the show's actually about. Better yet, they just need to not go this route.

Arghhhhhhhh! This is from my stomping grounds!!!!!!!!! This "church" is the infamous ex Gardendale Baptist Church which made the news several years ago by kicking people out for not agreeing with their pastor for going Purpose Driven. All the members of the church were asked to vote either "yes" or "no" for the disagreeing people to leave. Voting people out of their own church! That's a real Christian thing to do!!! Several hundred people (many of which grew up in that church) ended up leaving either because they were voted out or didn't want to belong to a church that votes people out. The letters to the editor section in the Corpus Christi Caller-Times was filled with letters from people who belonged to other churches inviting these kicked-out people to their churches. The ex Gardendale got a black eye for a long time for that. Since then I have heard of many churches that have done the same thing in one way or another thanks to Rick Warren. Now Real Life Fellowship has to compete with Bil Cornelius' Bay Area Fellowship for warm bodies and their money. Although I'm not surprised, I'm appalled at this video clip. This is Maury Povitch (sp?) mentality. I don't know what this has to do with telling people about Christ and spreading the real gospel. Maybe they should change their name again to "Real Low-Life Fellowship."

Sorry , I jumped the gun. Since I have never seen or heard of the show I thought that Real Life Fellowship was doing their own version of "The Moment of Truth" and this was their video. Anyway, my previous post still stands. Since this church is so notorious around here I wouldn't put anything past them.

How dare Paul use the idol to the unknown God to get the message of Christ to the people of Athens. Paul obviously knew God doesn't like idols, so what was Paul doing marketing Jesus using an idol.

CR,
Well your argument would have more credibility if it were not for the fact that the pastor of this church is a seeker-sensitive type who preaches the typical Biblically watered down candy coated self-help pop-psych garbage that all of the other purpose-driven sell outs are doing.
If he were actually preaching truly Christ-Centered and Cross-Focused sermons that were expository in nature then you might have a point. But since he's a sell out you have no point.

The producers of The Moment of Truth better realize that lie detectors aren't admissible in most courts.

Totally agree that this was a bad idea.
Just one suggestion, maybe you can replace the video clip with another one from the show because in the one you have the woman blasphemes the name of God right at the beginning. Thanks!

I had no idea that show was like that. It has to be fake, no one would be that stupid to do something like that. But I'm not surprised at the world really, they've had worse things on tv before. I pray God puts it on our hearts to reach out to people and share that His Son can rid us of this depravity.
