Release Your Brilliance??
"But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money..." - 2Tim. 3:1
"For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths." - 2 Tim 4:3
This book by a "Christian" author is 180 degrees wrong. The emphasis is on the self and is combined with the self-indulgent heresy that teaches that you are 'destined' for greatness and all you have to do to unleash that destiny is apply the steps outlined in this book. Here's what a recent press release about this book said:
"Simon T. Bailey's new book RELEASE YOUR BRILLIANCE: The 4 Steps to Transforming Your Life and Revealing Your Genius to the World is a transformational guide to unlocking your potential. It is centered around the metaphor of a diamond: Each of us is a rough-cut, unpolished diamond, unremarkable to ordinary eyes; yet within lies enormous potential that's been trapped over the course of our lives."You are a priceless diamond, and only the most skilled craftsman can reveal the brilliance that lies within you," Simon writes. "Who is this master cutter? God. Certainly, you will do most of the work to discover and release your brilliance, and other people in your life will also help shape and polish you. But God is the master cutter. Only He knows the divine plan--the shape and size of the diamond you will become."
If this is really what the Bible teaches then why would we need to buy this book to teach us this? Wouldn't we discover this by simply reading our Bibles?

It would certainly take a genius craftsman to bring out any good brilliance me.

Without the Lord, I'm more of a piece of coal than a diamond - only fit for the fire. Only God can make me a diamond.

_My_ brilliance? "If you're so smart, why aren't you rich?"

I released my brilliance to the world once. Actually, many times. The world seemed to be quite impressed with me. I know I was!
Until, that is, God revealed HIS brilliance to me through his Son, Jesus, via the Word being preached in truth. He made me very aware that my brillance( my "diamond" so to speak )was no brighter than a dried hunk of manure and only worth it's weight in dung.
I am ever so grateful he did not leave me in that sorry state. I remember Him today as he took my sin-packed self-righteousness and had it nailed with him on a cross to die.
In doing so he made his righteousness available to me and all else who are humbled, repentive and believe: his elect, his sheep. Now God sees me in HIS brilliance.
Oh, the grace! Oh, the price (HE PAID)!
I have no need for Bailey's book. "Skubala!", I say.

I have heard stuff like this before, it is the basic teachings of the Freemasons, they believe the apprentice is a rough stone that needs to be crafted by its master to smooth sides with right edges. A stone destined for greatness. Ive met a 33rd degree mason and he was also a Knights templar of the york rite and he was far from great and had many rough edges that hadnt been changed by the x amount of years that he wasted his time in the lodge.
These guys get into churches and mess stuff up they are confused and teach garbage.
