Haha! That was pretty good.

What can I say Chris this was not only funny but scary.

That video was just as hilarious as "Bullwhip Guy."

That was great! Good job!!!!!!!!!
Too bad it's so true.

That is great! Turn their own adoption of the world's media forms back on the "seeker sensitive church." Not sure they'll even get that this is a rebuke, though -- probably just "name and claim" the Lexus and "all the way to the bank" parts. Like Carol says - Too bad it's so true.

"It's all the reward you're gonna get."

That last little bit sharpened the teeth on an already biting satire.

Is it wrong to wear silk shirts and let people drink coffee in church? I don't believe it is. BUT - when your goal in doing so is to gain members and then you never preach the true gospel - repentance and salvation - it becomes wrong.

I joined an independant Baptist church here that seems so grounded. When we went to a mens conference at an associated independant Baptist church that is supposed to be a biblical replacement for PK I was less than impressed by the majority of the comments in the van on the way home being about the $13million building with the upstairs sidewalk coffee cafe and three elevators and integrated full feature gymnasium. OK it was nice. Over time I was getting uncertain about the teaching seeming to be more me-centered. The last month or so I have been attending a local Bible church. Proper preaching can relly be like a glass of cool water!(refreshing) I hope this new churches idea of outreach is more than revisiting all the folks who filled out the permission papers at VBS.

Don

How do we know that these churches are not being faithful to the Word of God? Have you attended a service or Bible Study? Have you talked to the pastors?

I am a Creative Arts Pastor in a small town where my church would be considered the "Mega-church" of the town and we are constantly criticized for what we do. None of those people have even darkened the doorstep of our church. It is all based on assumptions. I have to keep myself in check as well because I find myself being critical of others and the way they do ministry as well, so this is a challenge for me to not assume the worst but assume the best and let God determine who He will reward.

Isn't ministry hard enough without fighting among ourselves. I am convinced that the Devil understands oh to well how to divide the people of God.

It's not about the coffee nor the silk shirts. It's about all the "me" focus rather than God focus. It's about what can God do for me rather than what does a Holy God require of me. It's about preaching the Word not tickling the ears. I have attended both types of church & I can tell you that there is a huge difference!! One is a feel good social club & the other where I learn more how to server the Lord who gave his life for me!

@ Kevin

I've known people in megachurches who say the exact same thing, except I've been to their churches. They think that having elephants at the Christmas celebration. Yes, real, live elephants on the stage is a good thing. Bring them in, prop their lives up with a sprinkle of hope, and make sure they come back so they can pay the lighting bill.

How about the new megachurch that just opened that had a monster truck show, free pedicures, and a fireworks display that lasted 2 times longer than anything I've ever seen put on by anybody. It seemed endless.

They estimated that something like 50,000 people attended their free event and I got to give away about 1000 gospel tracts before they asked me to leave the premises.

I don't know what your megachurch believes Kevin, but realize that every person I witness to, I have to fight the theology they learn from Joel Osteen, Rick Warren, or any other charlatan with a megachurch who calls himself a preacher.

In the end, I really do hope that your megachurch is preaching the truth and being a Biblical church, if it is, you guys are in the minority not the majority.

what is a creative arts pastor?

I think we should weep!

Don't get me wrong, I chuckled at the video. I thought it was funny. But another part of me wants to cry out. I'm so frustrated. I pray for people to wake up, but am constantly reminded that God's Word tells us that some people are ever learning, but are never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Kevin, if I may? A creative arts pastor is typically responsible for pulling together the worship elements in a contemporary service - lighting, song list, worship team lineup, use of instruments/arrangements of songs. They often work closely with the pastor who's preaching to ensure continuity between the teach and the rest of the worship experience. Sometimes they may be involved with the drama team, if there is one; again to ensure continuity and tie all the elements of the worship experience together.

Wow! You guys just described our church to a "T" (I believe you even spoofed one of the sermons on YouTube. That is how we found this site)! That was hilarious, but also VERY eye opening. Eleven years ago, our church started off small (about 300 people) and bible based. It has blown up into exactly what your clip shows. 5500+ members and growing. A Starbucks in the lobby. There is an actual PIRATE SHIP on the stage for this 'sermon series' (AKA: production) They give away I-Pods, Plasma TVs, Wiis, DSs, etc to the kids. This year, the church is giving away a CAR! Yes, A CAR! You get an entry for each verse you memorize or each book of the bible you read. Thanks for the doing the video. There are too many of these 'mega-churches' appealing to the masses, but getting away from the Gospel message. I am sure Jesus didn't walk the earth giving away a free camel for anyone who memorized his speeches!

I think someone should make a video of this and point to real events happening in today's apostasy.

Deep voice: "Most people wouldn't equate bringing a real elephant onto the stage for the Christmas celebration, but you did, yes you did."

Singer: Everybody, raise up your trunks!

lor - thanks for the definition, I think that explains very well what I do. We have other programs that utilize the arts that I am responsible for as well.

In the end, we all need to be faithful to what God has called us and where He has called us. God has used this to make me be sure to spend my energy on seeking Him and make sure that the things we do in our ministry are centered on Jesus. God knows the heart and ultimately will judge. I am glad that is not in my job description.

Not to neccessarily pick on Kevin, but the day our Music Minister began referring to himself as the "Creative Arts Pastor"...that was the day that congregation began the downward spiral. Today, they are theologically a mile wide and an inch deep. We don't attend there anymore. It's begins with very subtle changes, my friends.

I love creative pastors who are true to their calling. They add so much to the worship service. Music and the arts are a powerful spiritual pathway, and God uses their gifts in incredibly meaningful ways.

Why is a music minister needed anyway? Can't everyone just pick up their hymn book and sing a few hymns like Victory In Jesus, and then move on to the sermon? Why does everything have to be so difficult these days?

Senior Pastor is just the Spanish phrase for Mr. Pastor.

Wow, after reading all these comments I'm completely shocked how quickly we (who claim to be followers of Christ) have brought anger, resentment, & division and.... everything the Bible speakes against just because of one person's interpretation of what they believe is happening. There is a world dying and going to HELL people - WAKE UP!! Rather than making an issue of it on a public site why the heck are we not banning together and praying - rather than cutting each other down. Well...one more check mark on the Devil's to do list!!!

Amen KenM I agree 100%........

KenM,

The whole point IS that people are dying and going to Hell BECAUSE of "preachers" and "churches" like this. Many if not most of the people who comment on this site HAVE BEEN to these churches or their church turned into one like this. This is not just "one person's interpretation". I've lived it and was involuntarily in the big middle of it and got out.
Yes, this is satire, but how far from the truth is it? From my years of experience with this kind of mindset, this is sadly very close.
Also, how do you know we're not praying? And isn't this site helping people to band together?
The mega-churches that follow the likes of Warren, Osteen, etc. are not preaching the Gospel of Christ, they're preaching a watered-down version that's making people feel warm and fuzzy but it's not getting them to Heaven because Christ is missing. The pastor of my former church didn't mention Jesus' name for months at a time except in prayers. But he made sure he preached on prosperity, sex, (he even mentioned that he took Viagra), and whatever else he got off of Warren's site.
Yes, people have to "wake up", but the people who are buying into the Purpose Driven lies are the ones who are sleeping.

As Christians it is hard enough, with the secular laws trying to limit our religious freedoms, without us fighting each other. Non-Christians love to see other Christians fight each other on beliefs and practice in public. They can the just say " See Christianity is just bunk. They can't even love each other... " I was very disappointed in your You Tube attacks on Rick Warren. What was so disturbing was the comments that followed from obviously non-Christians. comments about Jesus popping his mother's cherry, Rick being fat and being bent over a donkey, etc. You fueled the non-Christians instead of winning souls. You created division. How about disagreeing a loving way, talk with Rick, etc. without creating a view of Christians to the world as pious, Bible thumping, etc. We all stumble in trying to follow God's will, but we can't cause others to stumble. What is more important, getting our Christians upset with Rick Warren and rethink their approach - they are already saved or drive more non-Christians away by seeing our division and bickering. Thise non-Chrisitan comments really upset me, because I know those videos added fuel to the fire.

The Church is ultimately the people of God as individuals making up the grander ecclesia, the called out ones. Our purpose today is to house the presence of God in the earth just as the Temple did for Israel. Our gathering together or assembly has become to be know as church in this western society. Church, or our gathering together was designed from the beginning to be for the called out ones, not the people outside the Kingdom. Unfortunately, what we have here is pastors, elders, bishops and the like watering down our gathering together to appeal to the masses. If we can just have another gimmick to get all the sinners to come ot our meeting, we will grow in mass numbers. That has sadly been the clarion call of the mega church movement. When you dumb down the Gospel message so that sinners feel comfortable, you also dumb down the legitmate citizens of the Kingdom and before you know it, they start being more influenced by the sinners than the other way around. This is nothing more than history repeating itself, i.e. the 4th century rule of Constantine when everyone, saint and sinner were required to be a part of the state religion, Christianity. Pulpits and altars were created to separate the hooligans from the members and here we go again. If you preach the uncompromising Word and Gospel of Jesus with miracles, signs and wonders following, I guarantee you will add true citizens to the Kingdom of God. Instead, many have chosen to win them with a cotton candy religion that I am sure God would spew out of his mouth.
