Will it Preach? - A Photographic Art Exhibit
We've created our first photographic art exhibit. It looks at the messages of Joel Osteen and Paula White and takes them out of their American context and asks the question "Will It Preach?". Each photograph has either Paula's or Joel's "message artwork" super imposed over a photo from another part of the world.
Below is an example. Click Here To See The Rest of Our Exhibit.

The Gospel message is the same to everyone, anytime, anyplace. If your message can't preach anywhere anytime, it's not the Gospel. Wow what a sad, pathetic example we as american christians are being to the world.

Ouch!
Olsteen does forget about the poverty stricken people doesn't he? Seems like his get your best life now messages are for those that are rich and comfortable in America. I wonder what Gospel for Asia would say about the expensive Olsteen Church?

God bless,
Anthony

Listen to Alistair Begg's message #1959; he puts the lie to the health and prosperity message pretty well.

Yet, Church "leaders" can't see this! "Truth has fallen in the streets" Isaiah 59:14

What an astounding exhibit. It shows in stark reality the 'non'Gospel' these people teach.
God bless you for putting this up for all to see.

This really was amazing, poignant, and almost painful. Amazing photography and creativity that sends quite an eye-opening message. Such a stark contrast between our comfortable Christian culture and the rest of the world. This would also work not just with photographs of war-torn nations but also inner cities, communist countries such as China, and nations stricken with poverty such as India or even Mexico. Photographs from most of the world would work. Great job, that was a great reminder.

Good exhibit! FYI, I couldn't get the slideshow to work in Firefox, but it worked fine in IE7.

I think that is a great demonstration of the unaffectiveness of these prosperity messages. I would not go to a church like Joel Olstee's or Paula White's, but I can't help but wonder what your perspective of church is? Is it for evangelism? Because if it isn't then these images really have no realistic argument, because these pastors are both heads of churches... Not evangelistic ministries. I am not defending either of theses pastors..

Well...If that doesn't put Paula Whites and Joel Osteen's "churches" under the gun I don't know what will. Excellent exhibit!

AMEN! Let those who have ears hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.
"The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not; They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths." Psalm 135:15-17

The slide show was a good commentary on the false prosperity gospel, but I had to open Internet Explorer to see it, it would not run in Firefox. God bless you.

Thank you! These photos have hit it on the head. Please find some way to get these images out into church world. The seeker/market/purpose driven, best life now, health wealth/name it and claim it church goers NEED to see this.
Before I saw these photos I imagined this message in places where people, namely soundly saved Christians were being tortured and murdered for their faith and wondered how they would understand these messages. It radically changed my ministry and evangelism efforts. This can have a profound impact on those who are starting to become disillusioned by the preaching of the Western and American church of today.
I am afraid that the knee-jerk reaction of the young postmoderns is to go out and help this hurting world, blame the wars and suffering on the church and the government and then ignore the preaching of Jesus' message of salvation. We Christians should be the first to love, serve and help those in need AND carry the Gospel message of salvation everywhere.

I love the slide show and I love your site! We should expose false gospels where ever found. When I was a new Christian I fell for the Benny Hinn and Joyce Myer “love yourself, money, and all your vain ideas” gospel. Please forgive my ignorance. However, these people were sure to come, just as the autonomous parasites they are, they take money and hope from those who sincerely want the Words of Grace. I hope with all my heart that Mr. Olsteen and Ms.(Mrs.?) White will see this exhibit and maybe even repent! Let’s bombard their organizations…ummm… I mean “churches” with invitations to view the slide show! I think that it is a good idea; I’m going to do it. Love you all… Josh.
James 2:15,16 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

Joey, I think all churches are evangelistic ministries. And if they're not, they should be.
Posted by: lor | December 01, 2007 at 09:55 PM
LOR, Churches should be evangelistic in the sense that they teach their believers to GO into the world and share Jesus. Many churches have changed the Go to let's STAY here and draw the world to us. In doing that we tend to cater more to the sinner, oh sorry too offensive, I mean the seeker than the edification of the believer. The church is the gathering of believers for our edification and growth. We learn and get trained to Go into the world and share the message of Jesus Christ. Jesus came to SEEK and save the lost. Jesus was the seeker. If we are to be like Jesus we, the believer, are the seeker. Many have gotten it backwards.

This is fantastic Chris. Sometimes a picture can say something words never can. Great job!
