At what point in history have people *not* been lovers of themselves and of money?

Well, Hannibal, people may have always been lovers of self and money, but it wasn't really until recently that the vice "conceit" became the virtue "self-esteem."

Notice all the Barbie dolls on the cover. I guess that's why they are celebrating! Or maybe the celebration is for all the money this multi-millionaire woman makes off with from gullible, weak-minded people. "YEAH, LETS CELEBRATE! DANCE TO MULLA!"

Good point, Mrs. P.
That whole thing looks like one of those old K-Tel records, the kind you could order over the phone.

She gave an interview on Larry King last night which was fairly pathetic, IMO.

The big problem I see with this is that they want to pass it as Christian. There is nothing in the Bible about celebrating yourself or giving honor to yourself. Christianity is ALL about giving praise, worship, honor, love, obedience, one's own self, to Jesus Christ.

Barbie dolls???
There's this technique called airbrushing. In real life those people probably look quite normal.
However, did you notice the prices for rooms in the tiny print at the bottom. No way could I afford that. This must be a retreat for well-to-do "satisfied women." Man . . . I wonder if they ever go out and help in soup kitchens or shelters or share the gospel. I hope so.

I didn't see the interview so I can't comment on that. Did she acknowledge Jesus as the only way to God?
This is just more trash about how to be beautiful & love yourself. I'm sure they help teach the "it's all about me" stuff.
How sad that she obviously hasn't heard that the Bible says to humble ourselves!

Paula White ROCKS!!!
OK...just kidding. :)
I have a really hard time listening to her speak. She's probably an alright gal, but I just can't stomach her messages.

Barbie meets Joel Osteen. The gag reflex is working overtime...

We were fearfully and wonderfully made. I don't think God wants us walking around hating ourselves. Sure we should love ourselves because God loves us. BUT - We shouldn't worship ourselves and boast in ourselves - that is sin.

This sounds like a rehash of Robert Schuller's self-esteem
gospel.

That series could be subtitled "You Go Girl! (straight to hell if you follow Paula White's false teachings)".
But that's not nearly as pithy and catchy I suppose...
I wonder if the "JW" Marriott is short for the "Jehovah's Witnesses" Marriott? All kidding aside, doesn't the Mormon Church own the Marriott hotel chain? I'm pretty sure it's an LDS property.

I didn't look at the prices but after reading the post & looking at the cost the average Christian couldn't even afford to attend!!! Even with 4 people to a room it's still $199 a person!

Someone good with graphics should superimpose this onto a wall in a picture from the war torn streets of Darfur or Baghdad.
A good compare and contrast would really highlight just how aberrant the image is.

I was watching an interview with Paula White the other day, and it struck me that she seems to genuinely believe everything she says. And that's the problem. She has so thoroughly bought into the feel-good, self-esteem movement that she's become blind to sin and the need for repentence. (i.e., there's no need to show remorse over a divorce when God works everything out for good!)
She claims that everything she does and says is based on principles in God's Word, and the way she quotes Scripture, it's easy to see why so many have fallen under her spell. It just breaks my heart that so few Christians these days are mature and discerning enough to see through her sincere, yet totally self-deluded, message.

April, that's why the saying goes, "You may be sincere, but you are still sincerely wrong."
I saw a program by her when I had to be monitored for a couple of hours during my first pregnancy (long story), and she was indeed quoting Scripture right and left. Unfortunately, she was trying to promote the idea that this was a "seventh year," and we'd all see completion and prosperity--if only we'd send them $70, $700, or a faith-stretching $7,000!
One of her citations was the sacrifice God told Job to make, and she claimed that it caused Job to become prosperous again!

Coram Deo: Dead on comment! "You go girl!..."

Until her recent split with Randy White, Ms. White was the co-pastor of Without Walls Intl Church in Tampa. This church infamously featured the strip club king of Tampa, Joe Redner, at its Sunday morning service when he ran for city council (he lost). She and 5 other televangelists are being investigated by the Senate Finance Committee to determine if their tax-exempt status is being used improperly to shield a lavish lifestyle.
