He's MOCKING the guy/girl? on you tube who was crying like that. This guy, no matter how rediculous that kid on you tube sounds, doesn't need to mock somebody like that.

Don't leave her completely alone. She needs help. From God and from Christians.

Wow, pretty sad.
Did you see the YouTube video that ManCow did about City Church of Chicago? Ouch!
Posted by: Dave | November 07, 2007 at 12:41 PM
what was that?

Dave,
We were hoping that you could tell us what that was. We can't make heads or tails of the whole thing.
We know this is mocking some gay kid's You Tube rant about Britney. But, can't for the life of us see how this is even appropriate for a church to do in order to advertise itself. It's just bizarre.

uh...
er...
yeah.
Is this for a church or an improv club?
Posted by: Truman | November 07, 2007 at 02:22 PM
wow. What was that??? I feel like I was watching a comedy bit for a late night talk show.

After watching "Mr. Metros3xual" on the previous post, I spent a little time at the City Church International website.
They are certified strange. Really, really strange, and they link to some strange stuff too. /shudder/

That was about the most disgraceful thing I have seen in a while. I'vs seen some of the items y'all put on here, but this...I mean...just...
Did this guy lose his sense of shame somewhere along the line? I would be embarrassed if I--a grown man--knew I did something like that.

What does this have to do with preaching the gospel(Mark 16:15)?
Posted by: Trent Kastman | November 07, 2007 at 06:01 PM
Where are the good old-fashioned, Bible-thumpin', Jesus-glorifyin' churches these days???
I agree with Elephantschild. I checked out the Citychurch website too.....this church is disturbingly strange.

Why would I want to go to any place, never mind a church, that uses a someone screaming and acting like a lunatic as their ambassador? This, of course, is on top of Mr. Metro using the pastor's "hot wife" as a lure to draw people to their church, and likely some other advertising ploys that I will avoid subjecting myself to in the future. In my mind, besides all the sinful tactics used, this is a blatant case of people forgetting Titus 2:6-8:
Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded, in all things showing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine showing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, sound speech that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
On a similar point, I am reminded of an analogy by Bernard Shaw:
"The first prison I ever saw had inscribed over it, 'Cease to do evil; learn to do well': but as the inscription was on the outside, the prisoners could not read it. It should have been addressed to the self-righteous spectator in the street, and should have run, "All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God."
I bring forward this analogy because it is what I see in the seeker-sensitive church: They promote themselves amongst the world using things common to this world, falling victim and prisoner to it's destructive philosophies because they have denied their First Love, if ever they knew Him. Rather than approaching the world with the message of God's absolute moral law, they 'tone things down' to relative good and evil, along with self-autonomy; rather than binding themselves with the love of Christ, they seek individual freedom.
At the same time, inside the church, the message of, "cease to do evil," is rarely spoken, although it is far from the ideal as it is a flawed, self-autonomous message itself. Effectively those in the church rarely hear more than a whisper of the full of Romans 6:23, the true message they need to hear, which should be engraved on every heart so securely that they need not hang their signs indoors for their own learning, but that they would have a longing to share this message with every perishing soul.
Further more, the message that all have sinned is the message that this world needs to hear, no matter how ferociously they oppose it. As said by Ravi Zacharias in The Real Face of Atheism, "This is precisely the biblical starting point of moral rectitude: the recognition that the heart of every person is sinful, and that this predicament is spiritual, as revealed in his determination to absolute autonomy." Also, it important that once someone reaches this epiphany that they also realize the other half of God's revelation: "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith."

It only gets worseI thought the " go to church and snag yourself a hot wife" ad was bad but the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree the guy who pastors this church he is related to Steve Munsy the word of faith preacher who is on TBN promising you money if you would only sow one thousand dollars truly disgusting
Posted by: johndoe3:16 | November 08, 2007 at 01:54 PM
It just gets worse.
Once you draw people in with stuff like that, how can you ever get around to serious stuff like repentance and sin, death and hell?
It's not going to go down well with the *seeking cultural relevance crowd*
The real Jesus Christ, the one we really need, who doesn't give a hoot about the zeitgeist, is a bit inconvenient like that.
Praise God that He is.
Posted by: Raspberry Grace | November 09, 2007 at 01:11 PM
If that is what draws them in, can you imagine what is needed to KEEP THEM IN? The church in AMerica , for the most part, is sickly and lacking power. This was just lunatic screaming.

I was going to comment on Carl Man Cleavage but the video was already unavailable so I didn't. I was so stunned after seeing it that I couldn't put my thoughts into words. This guy who is doing the rant about Britney Spears is just trying to get attention, either for himself or his "church." I don't know why City Church or any other church would claim it but there's the City Church splotch logo at the beginning. Did anyone click on the Britney Spears "Gimme More" clip? I felt dirty just watching her and I advanced a lot of it. Is this the kind of "hot babe" the pastor has as a wife? Is this the kind of "hot chick" that is promoted there? I don't doubt that something like the "Gimme More" video will end up on the stage of "City Church" sooner or later. (Maybe it already has since hot chicks are the focus there.)
Also, for those who say you can get saved anywhere: you could be in a..... um.... "house of ill repute" and say that you "got saved" there because one of the "ladies" led you to Christ. The girl isn't living the Christian life. Am I judging? NO, because the Bible says that prostitution is wrong. Take it up with God. Jesus went out into the world but He didn't participate in the sludge that the world had to offer. He said to repent and don't sin anymore. He also never said to bring it into the church to "draw crowds." The real church is to be "holy" which means "set apart." This video and the "Carl Man Cleavage" video certainly show that this "church" isn't set apart from the world but is wallowing around the filth with the world, bringing it in, calling it good and saying that the real churches (quoting from Carl's video) "suck." Maybe Carl Man Cleavage, Ranting Britney Spears Guy, and the church they represent should get some sensitivity training and really look into what real Christian churches believe and teach.

Yeah I think this is just a mock of Chris Crocker's famous Leave Britney Alone YouTube video...pretty sad, because Chris is actually SERIOUS.
