Jaci Velasquez and Her Hoochie Dancers *** Updated
This is Jaw Dropping Unbelievable!!! This is footage from a Christmas Concert of one the TOP "stars" in "Christian" music performing the spanish version of her song "I Cannot Live Without You".
Isn't the WHOLE POINT of having "Christian Music" is that it is supposed to be an alternative to worldly and secular music?

Update: Rather than issue an apology or publicly repent and renounce this egregious behavior Jaci's "people" had this video pulled off of You Tube on November 20th, 2007 & from Google on December 5, 2007. We've reposted it on another service and we will continue to re-post this video. We would like to remind Jaci's attorney and Warner Music Group that we have every right to display this brief video segment LEGALLY under Fair Use of Copyrighted Material.
I am shocked and so disappointed. I know that is not worship, but instead that is entertainment. I won't be going to her concerts.

I remember an interview with her in CCM magazine a few years ago. She was riding in a car with her husband, who she either ignored or barked orders to. She was quite the diva. She divorced that guy not long after. Surprised?

How very disappointing! I did see something golden in the background. Was that the calf? I have to admit though, we shouldn't be at all surprised. Jeremiah 17:9 “ The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? 10 I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.

WOW! This blows me away. I remember when she first came into the "scene" as a teenager and was so pure in her music. I must admit that I never saw her in concert then however.
I do believe the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders wear more than this!
Posted by: Angel | November 15, 2007 at 04:43 PM
"pay close attention to what her backup dancers are NOT wearing"....Uh, they're not wearing much, that's for sure.

Can anyone envision temple prostitutes in the near future? It's not much of a stretch!

Just another example of 2 Tim. 3 being fulfilled in the last days.

I am so sad about this. I must say, where is her husband (Nic Gonzalez from the Christian band Salvador)in all this? He will be held accountable before God for his wife's spiritual growth, when all is said and done. We need to be praying for this couple.

It's going to keep getting deeper and deeper and deeper into dellusion. Truth stumbles like a drunken man and falls in the streets. For those who know these things, gaurd your own heart and carry your cross daily, less as peter said you may yourself fall from your steadfastness.
James 1:27 Niv
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

If it was a "Christian" concert why were they wearing Santa outfits? Though I admit it's better than nativity outfits.
Notice how those poor kids in the front row are getting a constant view up the skirts. I'm glad I don't have kids. I'm doubly glad my nonexistent kids aren't teenage boys. And finally, I'm forever happy that my nonexistent teenage sons were not in the front row of this show ("show" in more ways than one, unfortunately).

Too bad she sings in Spanish. Everyone knows that Jesus only likes people who speak English.

I am glad I do have sons, Mandi. I am thankful for children, because they are a gift from the Lord. I am thankful for the prayer and study that I "must" do to raise four sons in a wicked and perverse generation. Anything that causes a daily walk with God is a blessing to me :) I believe in cursing the sinful darkness, instead of cursing children.
How do I know what God has in mind for my sons? I don't. However, I can keep them away from Ms. Valasquez and her ilk, while waiting to see if God will raise up these boys to turn hearts back toward Him.

Ihhh.
I used to love Jaci. Used to dream about marrying her, in fact. I still have lots of her CDs and I admired her purity. When she divorced her first husband, I was devastated.
Pray for this girl.

Sad, sad, sad!

This is probably a Univision or NBC (Telemundo) show in question, so I'll also put the blame partially on whoever produced this programme.
An star opera singer wrote in her autobiography that there are some situations where she will never allow herself to perform. This was clearly one of those places, and it puzzles me what has happened.
The kids in church think this type of dancing is legitimate for church music (with more clothes), and I said it is not. But our kids have lost respect of majestic hymns and replaced it with sappy secular "love songs".

A. Raab: I'm sorry, but I never ever meant my comment to mean that I am "cursing children"
Thank you for reminding me that tone is often difficult, even impossible, to correctly convey through type. I was hoping to infer that I believe our culture to be increasingly perverse, and as such, I am glad I do not have children yet because it is something for which I am not ready. Being a loving, faithful parent must be a great challenge, and while I respect parents who are handling that challenge so well, I am certainly not ready to take on that responsibility. When I am, I hope that God bless me with many kids so that I may raise them in His sight. I feel especially for those parents who allowed their children to attend this concert thinking that it would be a safe Christian show, only to have their sons and daughters see what is displayed in this video.
I often write comments on this site using sarcasm and satire (much like what I assume Chreeha did when posting the comment above...not to single you out Chreeha, but it was a close example). I thank you for reminding me that sarcasm and satire do not translate so well over the web, unless I explain my comments as such, which would then render them useless in being sarcastic. I will be more careful in the future.

I think the "Christian Music Industry" is becoming pretty much a joke. I have heard stories of record labels making artists do things they wouldn't have done themselves. It's kind of sad how pushy the companies have become, considering that they're supposed to be Christian based.
I don't know whose decision it was to have this particular concert set up like this, but I would definately pray for Jaci. She's made some questionable decisions before with a movie she's made and other things, so I don't know where her heart is, but I know she's my sister in Christ and could always use prayer. Especially as she just had a baby a couple of days ago and is a brand new mother. So instead of making comments about her divorce which no one has no details about, maybe we should just all say a prayer for her. That would show some real Christian love.

We must always remember that we stand by the grace of God and not compare ourselves with others [see Luke 18:10-14]. At the same time I'm thankful for websites like this one that make us aware of some prominent christian leaders and musicians that can be a bad influence on us. Having children, you have to be aware of this type of thing. Jaci was in a tasteless movie, she married a person that wasn't saved(from accounts I read), divorced him, and now is remarried. Not to mention she is compromising like this video depicts. We definately need to pray for her and pray that God sends some strong Christians into her life to restore her.

I'm actually not terribly bothered by this. I think "hoochie" is a little strong. Although I am curious to know in what era kids ever had respect for majestic hymns. It must have been the nineteenth century before popular music became, well, so popular.

chreeha-- I'm afraid I don't get your point...

There is no way in any time this could be considered appropriate. They are just like the world!!! To me it seems she's sold out. Wrong is wrong is wrong. It doesn't matter who it is!
The Bible tells Christian women to dress modestly!!!
Also I head one unsaved girl saying to another she was wearing her "hoochie mama" outfit. It covered more than the dancers had on. Even the world can tell the difference!

There is nothing really shocking about this. We as Christians have to get over our (seemingly) ubiquitous naive perception of the world around us. Just because someone says they are a Christian or says "praise Jesus" in song or conversation, does not mean they are Christians!
The Christan Music Industry is just that, an Industry. It exists because smart people know there is an audience willing to pay money for any product stamped, 'Christian'. So they produce said product, and sell it to a well researched and targeted audience, us.
As to these "Christian Artists", well, you don't sign a million dollar contract with a multi-billion dollar Corporate Conglomerate promising to make you rich and famous, without selling your soul as part of the bargain.
Just because we are referred to as sheep, doesn't mean we should act like sheep.

Need a view of real Christian Music that is still relevant and Holy all at the same time? These boys: www.reachrecords.com or www.crossmovementrecords.com. I used to listen to all music that claimed to be Christian but after looking at the lyrics and the way some of the people acted, I couldn't do it. These guys aren't in an industry - they are in a ministry.

Boy, the Scripture which popped up all of the sudden raised the hair on the back of my neck and arms! I didn't realize that she had gone down the road of prosperity. Reminds me of Vanity Fair in John Bunyan's book Pilgrim's Progress

chreeha I don't get your point either :S

Where's Britney? This is more like her "performances". Oh, my bad--I'm supposed to "leave Britney alone!!!!."
Please pray for these people who are blinding others to the low morality of their concerts in the name of Christianity (I was absolutely mortified seeing this) and selling out to the ways of the world. You know that Jesus said Christians will be hated by the world. This kind of thing has gotten way out of hand and many Christians who see and hear things like this in their mega-churches probably wouldn't see anything wrong with it. What's next? How do they top this and create more excitement when this gets too "boring"? We are told that we have to be "excited" at church or no one will darken our doors. If we're not excited and don't have an adrenaline rush then there's something wrong with us. I guess along with Starbucks and Krispy Kreme in the churches for caffiene and sugar highs they'll have to bring in Hooters for another kind of rush. Jesus, please open these peoples' eyes.

I just thought of a way to top this. The hoochie-mama Sant-ettes could pole dance! And Jaci could at least have the same outfit as her dancers, maybe in green to keep with the spirit of Christmas and all.
But as for me and my family, we choose the Lord God, the still small voice, the giver of the peace that passes all understanding, the Savior Jesus Christ who died for our sins rather than the flashing lights, the loud noise, the vile dancing, the skimpy dress, and the mosh pit. I'll be willing to say that most if not all of you are with us on this.
Pray for these people. God loves them too.

This is an old video! I remember when it was actually on TV; must have been about 5 years ago. (I used to watch Spanish TV to practice Spanish, but most of the time it's worse than American English TV so I stopped!) I was bummed about this performance then and am still bummed now. I had that Spanish album, but I couldn't listen to her after this.
Posted by: Corinne | November 20, 2007 at 10:36 PM
Wow she has great hair.
But she should get hoochie dancers who are more skilled in the art of hoochie dance. Even in those skimpy outfits they hardly look provocative. Ah christians if you're going to be worldly do it right! Always the cheap facsimile.

i agree that the women in the background were not dressed appropriately but to take someone and basicly categorize her as a heathen does not seem appropriate either cut her some slack i supose none of you have ever made a poor decision she is still a child of god imperfections and all

I am really disappointed to see this. I took my kids to see Jaci when she was relatively new. She did a free concert at our local fair and my daughters enjoyed the music from her first album. It is sad to see that her concerts have degenerated into THIS.
I hope that she gets her act together.

Jaci is forgiven and this is from many years ago. Why do Christians hate each other instead of love each other? Maybe the ones who slander and hate aren't truley Christians? It has NO place to the kingdom of God.
