Ahoy There Mates!

We think that Gary Lamb and Revolution Church may get their own wing in our museum. First they deck their church out to look like a Las Vegas Casino and now they've made their church into a Pirate Ship for their current series entitled "Reclaiming Your Lost Treasure".

So with a name like that you'd think the sermon series might be about the parable of the 'Pearl of Great Price" or about the treasure of our salvation won for us by Jesus Christ's death for our sins on the cross of Calvary, right? Wrong!

Please read. The graphic below is taken straight from their website.

Treasure

Ummm... what on earth does this have to do with Jesus Christ, Christianity, the Bible, the cross and our salvation? Furthermore, we can't recall a single time in scriptures that the Apostles preached about taking their money back from the devil or reclaiming that which is 'rightfully' theirs (referring to money).

Sorry but this is not what we go to church for.

If you want good financial advice we recommend that you contact a TRAINED financial planner/specialist and avoid UNTRAINED pastors dressed like pirates offering to give you 'pearls of financial wisdom'. Remember, when a pastor gives you this type of advice he's expecting you to hand over 10% of your gross annual salary.

It's as if they have been reading Hillsong Austalia pastor Brian Houston's book:

http://members.ozemail.com.au/~rseaborn/houstons_problem.html

They love money there at Hillsong:

http://www.rickross.com/groups/hillsong.html

No doubt Gary Lamb and his friends like Perry Noble, are right into Brian Houston's teachings and Hillsong's music, which is a real money maker for Hillsong. I would be surprised if they do not follow Hillsong Australia Brian Houston's prosperity gospel. I went to hear Brian Houston speak in The New life Church in Christchurch City, New Zealand a while ago and he said from the stage; "None of you here disagree with the prosperity gospel do you?" and I lept up and said; "Yes, I disagree." I said one or two other things and then they physically manhandled me and threw me out of that church. The very same church I was married in many years ago. God bless them.

If Gary Lamb and his mates are not into Brian Houston's false teachings they certainly are into some other false word of faith/prosperity gospel preachers. Joyce Meyer? Creflo Dollar? T. D. Jakes?

That sort of teaching by the likes of Gary Lamb and his mates makes me sick. It's utter rot. It is falsehood. The leaven of their false teaching is spreading like gangrene, it needs to be amputated quickly before the whole body goes rotten. Gary Lamb should be ashamed of himself and be on his belly before God in tears.

"Tired of worrying about your future?"

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. - Matthew 6:34

"Financial pressure is overwhelming in today's culture."

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 1 Timothy 6:16-18

"No matter how much debt you have, no matter how many bills you have to pay, no matter how much or little money you make you can achieve financial freedom."

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. - 1 Timothy 6:10

Wow, go to the Revolution Church website, click on "About Us" then on "What to Expect." I was tempted to post the whole article with my astounded comments, but I'll just encourage you to read for yourselves.

Years ago back in the mid 90's while I was in Saudi, serving in the USAF, I got a phone call through to my wife and she had told me about a church she visited with a friend. She was dumbfounded as the screens started showing a statement saying "We, the church, are praying...praying for more money, for more cars, better homes, boats..." Then the "preacher" started saying "Who wants a new computer? if you do run around and proclaim it!" and a couple of people started running around the auditorium screaming and chanting. Then to make matters worse he said "who wants 20 computers?" more people got up to run around. Then he started throwing imaginary "Holy Spirit" on the congregation with an imaginary bucket.

It made her laugh so hard at the utter profaneness at it that the people around her were offended that she was making light of the situation. The preacher then claimed that Jesus had lots of material wealth and even lived in a mansion. This upset my wife so much that she was bold enough to go to him at the end and rebuke him and show him the passage where Jesus said that "the foxes have dens...but the son of man has no place to rest his head." To which this preacher said "Madam, I see that you are not educated with the Holy scriptures!"

I don't know if that church was emergent, but it shows that the subtle use of false doctrines and worldly practices brought into "Christian Churches" is shameful and wicked. So these emergent churches adopting these worldly schemes don't surprise me, but deeply sadden me.

Instead of looking to the Pirate movies, they need to plant their faces in the Word of God, for that alone is enough! The Bible is full of wisdom on how God deals with the question of money.

I was just listening to Way of the Master Radio where an emergent church pastor (Tony Jones) responded to John MacArthur's exposing yoga being used in the church rather than using God's Word, as wrong. He sarcastically responds, saying "The idea of Christianity, let me quote, is to fill you head with biblical truth and God will take away the problems in your life. Friends this is a pastor who must never seen people in his pastoral office."

This emergent church (what my wife calls) Emergent Cult, is very insidious and sad, and full of postmodern like beliefs. Their foundation is shaky at best, and their "gospel" is cursed as the Apostle Paul would say (Galatians).

How much money are they wasting by comingup with this nonsense!

Goodness, gracious. When I first read the title, I said, "Eh, um... Ok. Maybe this could work if they are talking about the treasure of forgiveness of sin." Then I read the rest...

Do you think Creflo or Jakes will be making guest appearances at their meeting place soon? If they keep going down the path they've decided to embark upon, it might just be inevitable...

This is just another fulfillment of 2 Tim. 3 that people would be lovers of money rather than lovers of God.

Didn't Jesus say not to store up your treasure here on earth... and yet, that's the exact word "pastor" Lamb uses: Treasure.

I'm not against churches teaching meaningful ways to stay out of debt, but let's be real... telling me how to "reclaim my lost treasure" is putting the focus squarely on money as the most important thing. This church is just plain goofy.

Mike D.

I know Gary and im pretty sure the last time I checked Jesus dealt more with money and possessions than heaven or hell. The old testament is full of biblical truth regarding debt, saving, spending - and yes even giving. And having a biblical perspective on finances IS a Kingdom issue. Its not about 10% - its about stewardship of 100% - true? I have no doubt Gary will handle all these subjects AND he is bringing in a biblical based professional counselor to do financial workshops for his people. Jesus used the words where "YOUR" treasure is there will "YOUR" heart be also - so using the tag "reclaiming YOUR lost treasure" should be OK. God called us to preach the entire counsel of His Word and he cant neglect this topic and be biblical. You might not agree with the method or the metaphor but you really cant be serious about being critical of his teaching on this topic BEFORE YOU HEAR IT - Come On! Listen to him preach - this dude (im sorry - did I offend someone) can shuck the corn! check out his background sometime...

"Listen to him preach - this dude (im sorry - did I offend someone) can shuck the corn! check out his background sometime..."

Gary Lamb cannot shuck the corn because he wouldn't know wheat from chaff. His background is terrible. A pastor? NO WAY! I wouldn't trust him to be my pastor for all the tea in China. He is a false teacher, a blind guide leading the blind. He is like so many false teachers flooding the church these days, and their rotten leaven is spreading like gangrene all around the world. Gary Lamb and his associates, such as the likes of Perry Noble, do not fear and tremble before the LORD of glory and they literally need to put on sack cloth and ashes and get on their bellies in the dust, before God and repent earnestly for misleading thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people. They do not preach and teach full-orbed, sound biblical doctrine. They change, twist, distort, take out of context the Word of God. They pour their own meanings into Scripture and they proof text the Scriptures to reinforce their own ideas. Gary Lamb is a tickling ears teacher like most of them are these days, including Rick Warren, who give people what they want rather than what they need: The True Gospel. They meet the "felt needs" of people rather than the "real need." Sound doctrine. The importance of teaching sound doctrine is even taught in the Scriptures. Check it out. Gary Lamb does not preach the true biblical gospel. He has watered it down, softened it so it is less offensive and turned it into a man pleasing gospel. There is no fear of God and no holiness of God in his life nor in what he does. Gary Lamb should be weeping and wailing in true repentance for what he has done and for what he is still doing. There needs to come a real fear of God upon these mens lives, where they tremble, literally physically tremble, at God's word and catch a glimpse of God's perfect glorious, brilliant, holiness. They hot coals to sear their tongues, much like Isaiah's experience in Isaiah 6, and cleanse them of all wickedness. It is no laughing matter. It is no joke. Gary Lamb must repent or he shall perish. He must be in a state of continual repentance or he will continue on leading the blind into the ditch, and he will fall in there with them himself. Woe is Gary Lamb if he does not repent. You need to repent yourself for promoting the false teacher Gary Lamb.

@dave - It's sad that you would resort to the whole "Jesus (and the Bible as a whole) talked more about money" tactic. I'm, frankly, sad to see pastors still using that...

Does this "pastor" have any qualifications at all? Any synodical affiliations? Any connections with the church "catholic" in the slightest?
